	Opening ceremony of 10th International Contest after Aram Khachaturian This year over 50 applications from 18 countries were received for participation in the contest. Young pianists from the US, Canada, Japan, Latvia, Taiwan, South Corea, China, Russia and other countries arrived in Yerevan. The contest was opened on June 6, on the birthday of Aram Khachaturian.
	Swiss alphorn-player Eliana Burki and Symphonic Orchestra of Opera Theatre On May 2, Armenian folk songs “It Rained”, “Water would Come”, “I shall Take my Sweetheart to the Mountain” were performed by the Swiss alphorn, Armenian duduk and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Al. Spensiaryan National Academic Theatre for Opera and Ballet, within th scope of "Orchestra plus" series.
	Resurrection Sharakans performed by Geghard Choir Conductor and singer Anahit Papayan and the members of the Choir she established are famous for their performances of Armenian spiritual songs. They sing in Geghard Monastery, have concerts in Armenia and abroad. Gheghard Choir’s song list also contains h a number of sharakans dedicated to the Resurrection.
	“Beethoven Gala”: classic music celebration at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall On April 4, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia presented a night of Ludwig van Beethoven's music. Soloist were German pianistAndreas Frölich, violin Anush Nikoghosyan and cello player Alexander Chaushian arriving from the UK. The conductor’s board had the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra Eduard Topchyan.
	Conductor Lavard Skou-Larsen and pianist Ashley Wass in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall On March 28, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia perforemed under the guidance of Austrian conductor Lavard Skou-Larsen. During the night, the overture of Mozart’s “The Clemency of Titus”, Beethoven Symphony 7 and Piano Concerto 5. The soloist was Ashley Wass from UK.
	Dmitry Sitkovetsky’s concert visit to Armenia On March 14, the violin of Dmitry Sitkovetsky was played on the stage of National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Al. Spendiarian. Sitkovetsky arrived in Yerevan by the invitation of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia.
	Violinist Nikolay Madoyan–winner of Guinness World Record On February 20, Nikolay Madoyan performed a musical heroic act on the stage of the Opera Theatre. Together with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, he performed Paganinin’s six violin concertos for the duration of one evening. The concert was recorded and delivered to the office of Guinness World Records by independant Armenian experts.
	Phonograph 08.02.2014 Famous pianist Elena Bashkirova arrived at Yerevan for a solo concert. “The Magic Flute” of Mozart performed at a concert lead by Swiss conductor Michael Vandenberg. Students of Ayb high school learn Armenian folk music, spiritual and secular choruses. The youngest musician of “Bard Club” singles out among other authors not only owing to his age.
	Union of Composers and Musicologists replenished Around two months ago, Aram Satyan became the Chairman of the Union of Composers. Since then, the departments of musicology, chamber, children and entrance were restored. The foreign branch of the Union of Composers was also established, which is run from the US. Owing to that, Armenian composers with have an opportunity to present their works abroad in May. These days the Union was replenished with nine new members.
	Music text-books for public schools are flawed Three generations were raised through the music text-books and methodological guide-books written by famous music experts Yuri Yuzbashyan and Alina Pahlevanyan for public schools. At present, Mr. Yuzbashyan’s concern is that this new generation is deprived of ethical education.
	Serious of concerts Krzysztof Penderecki in Yerevan From January 13-16, third series of concerts of Krzysztof Penderecki, famous composer with Armenian origin, will be organized in Armenia. The concerts will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the great musician.
	The guest of Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia is Steven Isserlis On December 6, the stage of Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall hosted renowned British cellist Steven Isserlis. The famous musician and State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia performed Cello Concerto of Prokofiev.
