On January 16, at the RA Presidential Residence, solemn ceremony of handing over the medal and honoring of the conductor of the RA National Academic Choir Hovhannes Chekijian was held. The renowned musician earned the highest honor for his huge investment in the sphere of culture and for representing Armenia to the world. 

On January 18, within the scope of “Musical Thursday at Khachaturian’s house” program, the House-Museum Aram Khachaturian hosted Aroutiunian Woodwind-Piano Orchestra. 

 

"Miqayel Voskanyan and Friends" ethno jazz band created in 2011 is one of the most inimitable musical groups. Their set list includes adaptations of famous pieces as well as original compositions. Tar is the solo instrument in the band. Their music mixes elements of jazz, Armenian folk music, rock and fusion. Our camera is in the rehearsal room of "Miqayel Voskanyan and Friends" band.

Murad Hasratyan studied and composed the entire history of the Armenian architecture in Armenian, Russian and French. Hasratyan lectured in a number of prestigious symposiums and foreign universities. Today the scientists continues his academic and pedagogical activities with   an enthusiasm of a young man. The six-volume book on Armenian architecture continues to be published under his huidance in the NAS Art Institute. 

 

For over twenty-four years Baden-Wurttemberg Regional Branch of the German Red Cross has been operating in Yerevan a charity center "House of Hope". On December 28, the House of Hope was enjoying New Year swirling. Forty volunteers aged 7-50 prepared holiday packages for 540 beneficiaries of the Charity Cuisine program. Among the volunteers were the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia Klaus Waldenberger.       

22 years ago, on the day of the Feast of Transfiguration, the present Primate of Tavush Diocese Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan accepted the holy covenant of priestly celibacy.  On the 22nd anniversary of spiritual service, Father Bagrat would most desire to hear the congratulation of his blessed memory of mother, whose biggest wish to see her son a church servant was fulfilled.  Father Bagrat is convinced - it was her blessing that accompanied him all the way through his service.

 

Stepan Martirosyan is one of the very first cameraman of the Armenian TV, who furthered his path on the road of cinema. Many of his films and documentaries – “Sayat Nova”, “The Voice of Conscience”, “The Final Thrust”, “The Bride from the North” and many others serve as guidance for the Armenian cinema.

 

After the Candlelight Divine Liturgy, the clergy accompany the Armenian Patriarch with singings to the Residency. First House Blessing ceremony of the year took place at the Residence of Catholicos. 

 

In the evening of January, when the ecclesiastical day changes, the mass is followed by the Candlelight Divine Liturgy. The Candlelight Divine Liturgy  was offered by Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Afterwards, the Good Tidings of the birth of Christ was passed to the believers by the Patriarch of All Armenians.
