Presentation and ordination of priests at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin


The evening of February 26 was a ceremony of presentation of priests at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. As per the rules of our Church, the presentation ceremony takes place the previous day of priests’ ordination. On February 27, on the Feast of St. Vartan and his Companions, 10 deacons were ordained into priests in the Mother See.

Divine Liturgy in St. Zoravor Church of St. Vardan and his troops


On this day, a blessing service is offered in all Armenian Churches. The soldiers were also awaited in St. Zoravor. However, because of the visit of the President of Georgia, the garrison was unable to participate in the festive Divine Liturgy. For that reason the believers waiting for them decided to congratulate them on-air at our TV station.

Throughout all his life, Sergei Dovlatov managed to publish just one story in his “native” soviet press, and the topic was industry. The writer residing in the State and getting published in the most prestigious periodicals, was only known by “self-published” materials and his own program aired by the “Liberty” radio-station. His last book, the 13th, which was supposed to be published in the Soviet Union, was actually published in 1990, a few days after the writer died.

“Emanation”: sculpture exhibition


In the Artists’ Union the exhibition of sculptures by young sculptors Ashot Gevorgyan, Gegham Abrahamyan, Sargis Babayan, Gevorg Tadevosyan and Argishti Harutyunyan has been opened. The exhibition highlights the generation of luminous thoughts in the dark.

Musicians state, that this version of kanoon – bass kanoon, is a revolution in Armenian music. The presentation of the instrument took place in Arno Babajanian Concert Hall. The author was awarded with St. Grigor Narekatsi Medal.

On February 19, on the initiative of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, Verdi’s “Requiem” was performed at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, which was dedicated to the memory of Claudio Abbado. The stage was hosting famous Armenian soloists Hasmik Papyan, Barsegh Tumanyan, Narine Ananikyan, Liparit Avetisyan.

The condition of the Armenian Church St. Mary in Targu Ocna, Romania, constructed in 1825, has been determined to be in advanced stage of degradation by the specialists. Bishop Tatev Hakobyan, the Primate of the Diocese, announced the launching of the charity initiative Save the Armenian Church in Targu Ocna.

Festive Khachaptouyt (a march during which the leader holds the Armenian Cross) to Lovers’ Park


After the festive Divine Liturgy of St. Sarkis, many young people participated in the march of Khachaptouyt heading towards Lovers’ Park from Mashtots and Baghramyan Avenues. Present at the festivity were Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, the clergy of the Diocese, the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and other officials.
