Feast of Holy Transfiguration in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin


14 weeks following the Holy Easter, the Armenian Church celebrates the third of its major feasts – Transfiguration. The believers meet the Patriarch of All Armenians in the Mother Cathedral with festive enthusiasm. According to the tradition, His Holiness sprinkles blessed water on the crowd of pilgrims.

“Other City” monthly magazine – a new wing in literary press


By the initiative of two friends who are fond of science fiction, Vahe Ghukasyan and Frunzik Harutyunyan, a new monthly magazine is to come into life – “Other City”, to encourage the development of the literary genre science fiction in contemporary Armenian literature. 4 issues of the magazine have already been published on regular basis.

Mother See has 6 famous museums exposing the valuable treasures of our nation. One of the most important directions of the operations of museums is organizing symposiums and seminars alongside with publishing albums, calendars, articles and studies. Museum Night in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin


It’s been three years, since the museums of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin have joined the Pan-European initiative Museum Night. This year, the exhibitions and events focused on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide. On this occasion, the Museum of Ruben Sevak hosted a presentation on “Collection of Historical Cultural Values in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on the days of the Massacres”. The visitors were offered an organ concert followed by the screening of the film “Archives of the Mother See Testify…” One of the most important exhibits was the icon of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.

Unfinished novel by Paruyr Sevak published


Recently, the presentation of Sevak’s “Amanej” unfinished book was held in the Faculty of Philology, Yerevan State University. The book was elaborated with the efforts of the writer’s grandson Sevak Ghazaryan, literary critic, on the basis of the author’s archive.

Canonization: part 2


Second part of the film presents the history of canonization of the Armenian Genocide, provides explanations as to why and how are they canonized. The film also underlines the fact of restoring canonization order after the interval of many centuries. 

Komitas Vardapet


Many in his native town knew this skinny, thin and pale boy. “Little wandering singer”; this was how they called this wise and kind boy in worn-out clothes often seen asleep on the cold stones of laundry. The wandere was young Solomon, years later to be known as Komitas Vardapet.

Canonization: expecting a historical event


On April 23, Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin will host a historical event. The victims of the Armenian Genocide will be recognized as saints. Hereinafter, April 24 will be a Holy Martyrs’ Day “to commemorate the Holy Martyrs murdered during the Genocide for the sake of their faith and homeland”. Repose of Souls Requiem will hereinafter be replaced with the commemoration canon so that from that time on we, the alive, will seek for the intercession of the holy martyrs for us.

Home blessing period in the Armenian Church


Home blessing services of Easter commenced. Upon the invitation of Christian families, the priests visit their houses to pass them good tidings of the Holy Resurrection and to bless the house and its residents. Our crew visited Martirosyan family together with Rev. Fr. Minas Hakhverdyan.

Holy Thursday is the establishment day of the Holy Communion. 
A Divine Liturgy is served in the morning to commemorate the Last Supper.
