Current Issues related to the Study and Publication of Monuscripts


The rich manuscript heritage reserved in Matenadaran (Manuscript Library) and other collections is not only something to exhibit and be proud of, but also in need of new studies and publishing. What studies of manuscripts are currently underway, how are the results of these studies used in Armenian studies, what are the current issues in the publication of scientific research originals? 
Hayk Hambardzumyan discussed these issues with the Head of Department of Manuscript Studies and Depositories, PhD in History Gevorg Ter-Vardanyan. 
 

Stalin Repressions in Armenia


Few families can be found in Armenia who didn’t suffer this way or another from Stalin repressions, yet not many studies exist on these issues, especially such important issue as the moral-psychological atmosphere then, the attitude of those repressed toward the persons involved in political persecution and the system itself. Hayk Hambardzumyan spoke about these issues with ethnographer Harutyun Marutyan. 

Armenian Woman in Modern Public Perceptions


On the Women’s and Mothers’ Days congratulations and beautiful words are said on the role of Armenian woman. At the same time, concerns are raised about violation of women’s rights in our society, domestic violence, gender discrimination. How compatible are the toasts and concerns, does discrimination actually exist and how is it expressed? Hayk Hambardzumyan spoke about these issues with Anna Gevorgyan, researcher at YSU Center for Civilization and Cultural Studies. 

Text-books and Modern Education


When talking about the problems of education system, often the quality of school text-books is raised as an issue of concern, Who and how are these text-books created, what are the undelying criteria, how compliant these criteria are to the modern education criteria, who is in charge of overseeing the contextual and publishing quality? Is it ever possible to create a text-book that will satisfy both teachers, pupils, parents and education experts? Hayk Hambardzumyan spoke about these issues with Sokrat Mkrtchyan – General Director Zangak Publishing House.

Հաղորդումը պատմում է Հովհաննես Թումանյանի(1869-1923թ.թ.) կյանքի ու ստեղծագործության մասին: Ծնվելով Լոռվա Դսեղ գյուղում Թումանյանը երիտասարդ հասակում հայտնվում է Թիֆլիսում ու ընկնում հասարակական, քաղաքական, մշակութային կյանքի հորձանուտը: Հայտնի բանաստեղծը նաև ակտիվ հասարակական գործիչ էր, ինչի պատճառով ձերբակալվել է, մեղադրվել ու արդարացվել: Հասարակական գործունեություն ըհաճախ խանգարել է նրա անսպառ ստեղծագործական ներուժի իրացմանը: Ապրելով բավական կարճ` Հովհ. Թումանյանն իր բազմաժանր ստեղծագործությամբ, հոդվածներով, հասարակական-մշակութային գործունեությամբ դարձավ հայ ժողովրդի կենսական ճանապարհի ուղեկիցն ու մեր գրականության հիմնասյուներից ու գագաթներից մեկը:

Trdat (Tiridates) the Architect


The video film presents the workings of Trdat the Architect, who erected the Mother Cathedral of Ani - the symbol of ascension and majesty of Bagratid Armenia, and also the stately monuments he created. The film refers to other compositions of Trdat – Argina Cathedral, Gagkashen Church, the gates of Ani serving as a symbol of state power, the specifics of their design and creation, the acrchitect’s innovations and peculiarities of his art.

Hrant Matevosyan: The Open Nerve of the World


The video tells us about one of the most outspoken phenomena of the XX century Armenian literature – the onset, development and establishment of the works of Hrant Matevosyan. The film presents his early creative period, the essay “Ahnidzor” and the following events. The video also addresses the specific traits of his post-independence life and art.
