Catholicos of All Armenians Meets with Head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland


Four-day ecumenical visit to Finland by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II still continues. The Pontiff left for Finland by the invitation of the heads of Orthodox and Evangelical-Lutheral Churches. On March 19, Catholicos had a meeting with the Armenian community, and on March 20 – with the Archbishop of Turku, Head of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Finland Kari Mäkinen.

It’s been a few days since the Armenian Pontiff together with the members of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is in New York to hold meetings at the Eastern Diocese headquarters in New York; first with  Eastern, Western, and Canadian Dioceses of the Armenian Church of North America and the members of the Central Committee of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). Next were the meetings with the members of the Supreme Spiritual Council. This is the first time ever that the Supreme Spiritual Council holds a meeting in the Eastern Diocese of the United States of America. 

Easter Sunday Divine Liturgy in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin


On March 27, the festive Divine Liturgy of Holy Resurrection brought the Armenian believers, state officials, representatives of various diplomatic missions, and public, political and cultural figures together in the Mother See. Catholicos of All Armenians offered a pontifical Divine Liturgy and delivered his message on the Holy Resurrection.

Triamphant Church


On April 23, 2015, canonization ceremony for the victims of the Armenian Genocide took place at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. For the last 400 years, no canonization ceremony was ever held in the Armenian Church. The Bishops Congregation restored the procedure of collective canonization. Bishops of Armenian Church, composer Yervand Yerkanyan, leaders of Christian sister cities, high ranking officials and representatives of Catholic and Orthodox churches tell about the process of restoring canonization procedure and this historic ceremony.

The activities ranging almost one and half years ended up in the doors of Komitas Museum-Institute to open in Komitas Park. 8 halls of the Museum showcase the life and activities of Vardapet, his thoughts and feelings, musical-theoretical and spiritual life and the heritage of rich folk literature he himself collected.

Pontifical Divine Liturgy on the Feast of Holy Nativity and Theophany


On January 6, the Feast of Holy Nativity and Theophany, a Pontifical Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Mother Cathedral by Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, Chairman of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan, other state officials, members of the Supreme Church Council, foreign diplomats accredited in Armenia, representatives of education, science and culture. 
This year the honor of bearing Pontifical Canopy was granted to Dr.Armen Charchyan, Chief Architect of the Mother See Ara Vardanyan, Merited Artist of Armenia Hrant Tokhatyan and Dr. Gevorg Madoyan.

New Year night at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin


According to the established tradition, every New Year night a Pontifical wish is issued, when the Church prays for the peace and prosperity of Motherland to God. This year the ceremony of pomegranate blessing came to join the Pontifical New Year wish.
