Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II Reconsecrated Gyumri’s Holy Savior Church
 
On the occasion of the reconsecration of the 150-year-old cathedral, His Holiness expressed his high pontifical appreciation to the diocesan Primate, Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, the clergy, as well as all those who contributed to the restoration of the church. The Armenian Patriarch presented the church with an icon of the Crucifixion of Christ as a blessing from Holy Etchmiadzin, and bestowed an episcopal cassock on the Primate of the Shirak Diocese. For taking on the patronage of the reconstruction of the church, His Holiness presented the high order of honor “Saint Gregory the Illuminator” to the former mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan.
