The Pan ACYO is preparing for the pilgrimage organized on the occasion of its 25th anniversary


During the Pan-Armenian pilgrimage "The Armenian Family, the Anchor of Armenian Identity", July 2-7, about three hundred young people from Armenia and the Diaspora will gather in the homeland. Applications have already been filled out, numerous organizational issues are being resolved. The history and daily life of the border village of Khndzorut


Khndzorut was founded by Armenians who migrated from the Khoy and Salmast regions of Persia as a result of the Russo-Persian War of 1826-1828. The residents of Khndzorut settled in the current area of ​​the village later, starting in 1969. The history of Khndzorut is in the area called "Old Village", which is above the village.

Students will examine the crime of genocide in the format of an international court


The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and the International Law Society of Armenia have organized a moot court competition on the crime of genocide. The goal is to raise legal awareness of the crime of genocide among students, develop research skills, and promote professional interest in the Armenian Genocide. The competition will be organized in the format of the International Court of Justice model. The names and countries in the case will be fictitious, but historical facts will be examined as the basis for the cases.

Genocide survivor's daughter has big reservations about contacts with Turks


Ashot Ohanyan and his family were deported from Bursa in 1914. On the way to the deportation, his mother and younger sister were killed, then he escaped and ended up in an orphanage. An American inspector kidnapped him on a coal ship to Greece. From there, a few years later, they were transferred to Egypt to learn a trade, where he was forcibly conscripted into the British army. He was seriously injured, losing an arm and an eye. In 1947, he returned to Soviet Armenia with his family, where in 1949 he was sentenced to exile on absurd charges, leaving his wife and young children alone.

Catholicos of All Armenians blessed the children gathered at the Mother See on the occasion of Palm Sunday


The Feast of Palm Sunday began in the Mother See with the Andastan ceremony. The Catholicos of All Armenians, together with the clergy, prayed and blessed the four corners of the world, asking for peace and fertility. On the Feast of Palm Sunday, the curtain of the church altar was opened and Holy Communion was given. On Palm Sunday, the Blessing of Children was performed in all churches. In the Mother See, His Holiness the Patriarch blesses the gathered kids.

"Akunk"'s new project: the songs and dances of "David of Sasun"


The "Akunk" ethnographic ensemble, which has a half-century history, presents songs and dances from all parts of historical Armenia. A few of the founding members have remained in the group, and it is they who pass on the decades-old traditions of Akunk to the newcomers. Currently, together with the group's artistic director, musicologist Artur Shahnazaryan, they are developing songs and dances from the epic "David of Sasun", which will soon be presented to the public.

The Mother See responded to the anti-Armenian event organized by Azerbaijan in Rome


The Mother See emphasized that at the event entitled “Christianity in Azerbaijan: History and Modern Times” held at the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Holy See, an attempt was made to deny the Armenian belonging of the historical and cultural heritage of Armenia and Artsakh, to distort historical realities with the malicious intention of appropriating it in the future. Holy Etchmiadzin regrets that an anti-scientific event was allowed to be organized on the premises of a Catholic higher educational institution. In this regard, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin will initiate the necessary steps within the framework of the perceived inter-church communication.

Of the 311 km border between Armenia and Turkey, 72 km falls on Shirak province. Jrapi is one of 15 settlements in the province that has border status. The village was built in 1974. As a result of the construction of the Akhuryan reservoir, the villages of Nerkin and Verin Jrapi were merged and moved upstream.
