The Armavir Regional Court of First Instance examined the case of Stepan Asatryan against the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, in which the defrocked priest challenges the patriarchal directive of the Catholicos of All Armenians to declare him defrocked. In another session, the case of Aramayis Takhmazyan against the Mother See was examined. He is also a defrocked priest. Earlier, the court examined the claim of the former Primate of the Masyatsotn Diocese, Arman Saroyan. According to the lawyer, in all three cases it is obvious that the judges are acting under pressure.

A festive Holy and Immortal Liturgy was served at the monastery complex. After participating in the Liturgy and Blessing Order at the St. Sargis Monastery in Ushi, members of the Youth Unions of the Aragatsotn Diocese gathered at the Gulameryan Armenian Youth House in Ashtarak. Father Paren and Father Sargis spoke with the young people about the behavior of the saint who was martyred for the Christian faith. The basis for this format of meetings was laid by the Primate of the Aragatsotn Diocese, Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan.

During the service, the clergy and believers of the Aragatsotn Diocese prayed for those unjustly imprisoned, prisoners, defenders of the homeland and the Armenian Apostolic Church. The Primate of the Aragatsotn Diocese, Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, is also in prison. The clergy of the diocese hold a service and pray for those in prison every Thursday.

The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the feast of St. Vardanants


Under the leadership of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, a Holy and Immortal Liturgy was served in the Mother Cathedral of the Mother of God. The Patriarch, distributing a blessing to the faithful, entered the Mother Cathedral accompanied by a church procession. The feast of Vardanants unites in its meaning the memory of the heroes who defended the homeland in all times.
 

Clergy and faithful prayed for detainees and captives in Aruch Church


The clergy of the Aragatsotn diocese, the nuns of the Ghazaravan monastery and the faithful prayed together in the Holy Mother of God Church of Aruch for the clergy and captives who are in prison. On the same day, it became known that the court replaced the detention of the Primate of the Aragatsotn diocese, Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, with house arrest. Father Shnorhk Paloyan conveyed the blessing and gratitude of the Primate of the diocese, Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, to those present.
 

Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, Primate of the Shirak Diocese, Released from Izmirlyan Medical Center


After 8 months of being in prison, the Court of Appeals granted the defense attorneys’ motion and imposed house arrest. Prior to that, the Archbishop had been transferred to the Izmirlyan Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. The Archbishop appealed to the European Court. According to the application, the clergyman’s rights to personal immunity and freedom of expression were violated, and the criminal prosecution was carried out for political purposes.
