Voices of Tatev


“One day in autumn we came to the Church and the proest suggested us singing in the choir. We had a hard time to agree with him, then we went to watch the rehearsal. Now we can’t imagine our life without Choir, it is our life”.
Children’s Choir of Tatev Monastery is famous not only in Tatev, but also beyond its borders. The Choir established in 2007 needed support, therefore it was included in the scope of the project Tatev Revival of IDeA Foundation. “The song of a child is a prayer – pure and powerful”, - says the priest of Tatev Monastry Rev. Fr. Mikayel.

This is the main mystery of Sahyan-the poet. The film “Hamo Sahyan: From Cliffs to the Sky” presents the junctures of his creations and key periods of life of the poet.

“Gayane” in Northern Venice


With the support of the RA Ministry of Culture and by the initiative of the Assistance Foundation for the State National Academic Theatre and Opera after A. Spendiaryan, on July 22 and 23, the Opera and Ballet group was hosted at the world-known Mariinsky Theatre to present the ballet “Gayane”, within the framework of Saint Petersburg 22nd International Music Festival “Stars of White Nights”.

Haykazunk


“During the national movement of 88 I felt that young people badly need national music. So I thought maybe I’d better be involved in introducing the Armenian children to the national music.” In 1989 Gayane Grigoryan, Artistic Director of Nor Nork DYC National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, established the National Song and Dance Ensemble. One of the students Michael assures us that singing makes him kinder.

Armenian Days of Marble City


From April 7-12, Armenian Days were held in Turkmenistan within the scope of the signed Agreement on “Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and the MInistry of Culture and TV Broadcast of Turkmenistan in the Area of Culture” and the oficial visit of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to Turkmenistan. Armenian culture was presented in Turkeminstan via a multi-genre program. The delegation was headed by the Minister of Culture of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan.

“From East to West: from Modern to Postmodern” Armenian authors


The works by over 70 famous paintors including both the young and also those from the last 200 years, showcased in one exhibition hall. July 11-17, the Museum of Modern Art hosted the exhibition called “From East to West: from Modern to Postmodern”: Armenian authors. One platform to feature different types of art – classical painting, photo art, pop art, sculpture. For the first time ever, both classical and modern and young authors creating within the last two centuries, were presented side by side. The organizers of the exhibition were the “High Art” Center, AA Auction and the project www.Hi-artonline.com .

24 pages for 24 hours


For some, comics is the best way to reproduce a story, for others it is purely a philosophy. Many are convinced that comics is a simplified literature, combination of speech and picture. Recently, the member of the Armenian “Group of Angouleme” non formal comics movement left for France to participate in the largest festival of comics - Angouleme Comics Festival. Inspired by Angouleme, they organized the very first regional 24-hour comics contest-festival in Armenia.

Next Station - Belarus


A cultural cooperation program for 2014-2017 will be signed between the Ministries of Culture of Armenia and Belarus. The ballet “Spartacus” will be jointly staged in Yerevan and Minsk. Prior to that, from May 1-5, 2013, Armenian culture days were held in Belarus. The Armenian culture was presented by the performances of Armenia state dance ensemble “Barekamutyun” (“Friendship”), exhibition of the designer Arevik Petrosyan’s paintings and screening of Armenian films.

Cultural Nabourhood


Five Armenian Churches will be renovated in Tbilisi. Armenian specialists are also to take part in these activites. The official visit of the RA Minister of Culture to Georgia, made in March 20, 2013, produced tangible results.
Bilateral program will save a number of monuments from destruction, shaping new quality for the cultural nabourhood between two countries.

Egg, egg, wooden egg


Yakov Zargayan is a piano player and a big fan of art. His biggest pride is the collection of eggs made of wood, clay, glass and metal decorated -- some 650 examples. The first egg was decorated by Martiros Saryan, then Minas Avetisyan, Bazhbeuk Melikyan, Rudolf Khachatryan and other artists
Every year Yakov Zargaryan replenishes his collection with new specimen, for which he can hardly find a place in his two-room apartment.
''A collectioner is the greediest person ever. If he has one hundred units, he wants one hundred and one, if he has twenty-thousand, he wants twenty-thousand and one. It is a disease. I am so happy to have that disease'', says Yakov Zargaryan.
