This year over 50 applications from 18 countries were received for participation in the contest. Young pianists from the US, Canada, Japan, Latvia, Taiwan, South Corea, China, Russia and other countries arrived in Yerevan. The contest was opened on June 6, on the birthday of Aram Khachaturian.
