Clarification of the assessments made in the National Assembly regarding the content of "Shogakat" TV station
On October 29, an assessment was made at the National Assembly regarding the "Shogakat" program of the spiritual and cultural public television station. In particular, the fact that the TV station does not address national instruments, that is, does not correspond to its title of a cultural channel. It was noted that the TV company covers the rallies of the "Sacred Movement" with dozens of materials, that there is a place on the air for labeling the ruling political force. Unacceptable qualifications were voiced regarding the professional quality of the TV station.
With its spiritual, educational, cultural, children's programs, "Shogakat" has gained the reputation of a television company that creates high-quality content of public interest. Therefore, we consider the assessment of several members of the National Assembly to be subjective.
Several TV series about national orchestras and ethnographic groups have been filmed by "Shogakat", all of them are available on the website of the TV company.
Four reports were broadcast on the "Ecclesiastical Life" information program of the TV company, which informed about the march of the "Tavush for the Motherland" movement, the concern expressed by the Armenian communities of the Diaspora, the statement of the Supreme Spiritual Council and the suspension of the church service of Archbishop Bagrat. Links below.
We consider it necessary to emphasize that the TV company's financial and content reports are submitted quarterly and annually to the authorized body, the Council of the Public Broadcaster, and to the regulatory body, the RFA, and are available to the public. From those reports, the content ratio of "Shogakat" programs is obvious. In particular, in the structure of the TV program, spiritual and cultural information makes up 4.3 percent per year, cultural programs - 29.3 percent, spiritual programs - 13.6 percent, music programs - 14.8 percent, children's programs - 11.1 percent, educational and other programs - 11.3 percent, popular scientific, educational, documentary and feature films - 15.6 percent.
The Armenian Apostolic Church, having established the "Shogakat" television station, delegated to its structure to convey knowledge about national, universal and spiritual values to the television audience. And since 2011, the "Shogakat" program broadcast by the spiritual and cultural public television company has assumed and fulfills this responsibility in accordance with the RA legislative requirements and norms regarding the public broadcaster.
