By the decree of the Government of Soviet Armenia of April 16, 1923, the “Petkino” was established. In 2019, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia supplemented the Law on Holidays and Commemorative Days with a new article “Armenian Cinema Day is celebrated on April 16.”
In 2023, the 100th anniversary of Armenian cinema was celebrated.
