The relic-bearing right hand of the commander Sargis, as well as the Gospel, preserved in the 17th century St. Sarkis Church and kept in the Matenadaran, and the Cross of Ashot the Iron, which was in the army during the days of difficult trials, were taken from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to the St. Sarkis Church, the seat of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese. The relics were taken to the church on the occasion of a special feast.
