The Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Georgia, Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, celebrated a Sunday Liturgy at the Holy Cross Church in Akhalkalaki, at the end of which an ordination of scribes was performed in the church. 23 young men were called to the first degree of church service. 10 of them serve in the Armenian churches of Akhalkalaki, 10 in Ninotsminda, and three in Akhaltsikhe. Bishop Kirakos cut a lock of hair from the heads of those being ordained as a symbol of renunciation of worldly desires. Then he gave them a Timebook, a broom, a key, a Bible, a Mashtots ritual book, a candlestick, and a cup. Each of them has its own meaning.
