For years, the construction of an educational center—planned by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat under the Tumo program—has encountered artificial obstacles. Yet, the center could provide 2,500 teenagers with the opportunity to acquire modern knowledge and practical skills.
Although the Vagharshapat Council of Elders unanimously decided to donate the relevant plot of land free of charge, the Cadastre Committee has suspended the registration process, and the Mother See’s proposal to purchase the site has gone unanswered. This sequence of events suggests that the obstruction of the educational center’s construction should be viewed as yet another manifestation of an anti-church campaign.
